How Email marketing Chapter - 3(II)

Five Tips for Building a Strong E-mail Marketing Strategy

If starting an e-mail marketing campaign is on your to-do list for 2009, Adams offers five tips that can help small businesses to create, launch and enhance successful e-mail marketing campaigns.

Put yourself in your customer’s shoes

When you first start with e-mail marketing, think through what you’re trying to accomplish.  Ask yourself what type of information would attract attention and get people to open, read and act on your e-mail.  Do customers want coupons and special offers or would they respond better to practical tips?  Often the best e-newsletters include a mix of sales with advice.

 Make a 2009 e-mail-marketing plan

Establish objectives and build a plan for the year.  Start by mapping out promotions, topics and campaigns that will help you reach out to your customers at the right time with the right information.  Roughing out a flexible plan for the year shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours.

Start building your e-mail list

Now you’re ready to start building your opt-in e-mail list—opt-in means that your customers understand that by signing up they are giving you permission to send them e-mail.
In addition to name and e-mail address, ask for information that can help you target your campaigns. For example, if your business is a restaurant or retailer, gather birthdates.  Also, take every opportunity to gather customer e-mail addresses. You can add a quick sign-up on your Web site, place paper sign-up forms at cash registers or even provide a jar for customers to drop in their business cards. Create a template that reflects your brand image

E-mail marketing services provide templates to help you get started.  Choose a look and that reflects your business and brand image.  You can also have a custom template created for you that matches your Web site and marketing collateral. When deciding on the formatting, be sure to leave room for images and make the text concise and easy to read.

Begin the conversation with your inaugural campaign

Kick things off by introducing yourself and setting expectations.  Let your audience know the type of information they’ll be receiving and how frequently you will be sending e-mails.  In your first campaign, don’t just sell, but also offer valuable information or tips your audience can use.  Encourage feedback so you can begin an ongoing dialogue with your customers—this allows you to continually gather more detailed information to improve targeting of future campaigns.

Some Other Tips:-

Your business plan

The first step, of course, is to determine who your target market is and exactly what you will be offering them. There a full sections of library devoted to the topic of how to write a business plan, but the basic are simple:
  • Market Analysis

    How Email Marketing Steps
    • Who will your customers be and what are their needs?
    • What is your competition like? What opportunities exist and what barriers exist to realizing those opportunities? How do your particular strengths and weakness affect your chances of success?
  • Product Development

    • In this case you know you intend to provide email marketing service. What does that include? Will you be building up your clients’ email lists for them? Writing advertising copy? Or will you simply be providing access to a web-based email marketing system that you will maintain?
    • You will also want to evaluate your costs, including man-hours, and develop a pricing scheme based on consideration of these figures, how much profit you need to justify your efforts, and what price you think your market will bear for the services you’re offering.
  • Sales & Marketing

    • How do you intend to go about promoting your new service? Do you have an existing customer or subscriber base that you can leverage to get the service going?
    • Ordering & fulfillment logistics

The First Step to Start Email Marketing is to choose right Software. You will need to buy bulk email marketing software with a sufficient number of user licenses to accommodate your projected initial need

The major email service providers have the capability of reaching inboxes through permission based email marketing with an efficiency you would be hard pressed to achieve in any other fashion. They also enable you to study every aspect of your email campaign through their extensive email tracking and reporting; set up comprehensive surveys; enjoy extensive email list management tools; and receive guidance from experienced professionals.

Bulk Email Marketing software reduces your time input and give you more output as compare to simple email service. You can send emails in bulk, But also when you are not present on your business desk, as it have number of features like Auto-responder, Rss email etc.

After this your real work start, you will have to work on following steps: -

Generate a Contact List

Legally, you can send your marketing e-mails to people who agree to receive them as well as those who have bought your products and services within the last two years. The latter one is easy. Figure out who bought something from you recently and get their email. Now the hard part: getting new contacts on your list. One way that your business can generate new leads is a button on your web site's home page. Tell visitors that if they sign up for your monthly e-newsletter, they will be entered to win one of your products. You can give away products to subscribers and sent out an e-mail letter about the winners. Your list will grows every month. And since those who sign up fully agree to receive our e-mails, they are more likely to read them. I truly believe that our "click rate" in opening our e-mails is higher than if we sent unsolicited "spam." Regardless of which way you get a contact e-mail, it is imperative to make it easy for someone to unsubscribe to your e-mails, current client or not. If you do not let them unsubscribe, you are breaking the law and damaging your reputation.

Develop Content

So now that you have a mailing list, what do you send to the contacts? Write about topics that matter to your clients or potential clients. If you own a flower shop, maybe you'll want to write about gardening tips, how to make that new bouquet last even longer, or any new varieties of roses. Enlist your employees to come up with article ideas too. Sometimes a different writer with her own unique voice makes an e-mailed piece more interesting and gives a fresh perspective. From time to time, e-mail about a new product or special promotion, but try to make the tone of the e-mails to be more about informing people of issues and topics that might be helpful to them rather than trying to sell them something. Recipients are more likely to open your future e-mails if they find them to be consistently of interest to them rather than continuously offering them a sales pitch.

Send Your Message

You could send your email messages yourself by typing in each name from an address book, but it is not recommended for this type of e-mailing. You do not want your clients to see the names/addresses of others on your list, to protect their privacy. There are some great online e-mail marketing services out there, like INTELLIGENT EMAILS that can help you maintain your database, schedule and send e-mails, and even track results such as who's opening what message. An advantage of using our services is that you can easily upload and modify your contact list, create multiple lists for different marketing purposes, and track your results to see what messages are working and what messages don't have a high click rate. However you send your message, be sure to limit the number of e-mails you send to no more than a few a month, maximum. If people are bombarded with e-mail messages from you, they will be more likely to unsubscribe.
All of the above shows why e-mail marketing is easy to use and much less expensive to do than traditional, mailed pieces.

I hope you enjoy this article and information in it.

How Email Marketing Chapter - 2

Types of Email Marketing

In actual fact, there are a number of types of email communications you can pitch to your clients, some of which are not directly sales related but can certainly contribute to their bottom line in other ways.Whether you're just starting out with email marketing or you already have some experience sending marketing emails, you've probably wondered about the types of email communication you can send to your database.

There are several options for email marketing and how to use them. From my opinion there are 7 Types of email Marketing
  • Direct Email

  • Newsletter

  • Catalog and Video

  • Lead Generating

  • Invitation/Survey

  • Promotional Email

  • Thank you Email

 Direct Email: -

Direct mail is a way of advertising in which advertisers mail printed ads, letters or other solicitations to large groups of consumers. Bulk-mail rates are used to lower the cost of the mailing, and targeted mailing lists are used to maximize potential response. Direct mail is used in many different situations, limited primarily by the imagination of the advertiser. Stores typically use direct mail to advertise new products or to distribute coupons. Charities typically use the it to raise money or recruit volunteers. Almost any sales pitch can be made by direct mail.

Newsletter: -

Email newsletters are characterized by three key advantages. First, they can spread your brand awareness. By building habitual communication with your email subscribers, you enable them to recognize your brand and associate it with a positive sentiment. Second, email newsletters can leverage existing content. Many companies do quick summaries of their most popular blog posts and link to the articles from their newsletter. Third, email newsletters give you the freedom to include different types of content that might be important to your organization. For instance, the same newsletter can contain a popular blog post, a new offer, an announcement of an upcoming event, information about a discount, and a link to a survey. You are reading this article on How Email Marketing.

Catalog and Video: -

As the name implies, catalog and Video emails are electronic versions of print catalogs and videos, though it will usually only list or promote a small sampling of the products available. There are usually dozens of pictures with short descriptions and links underneath encouraging the reader to click the link to learn more and purchase.

Lead Generating: -

Email can be used to qualify potential leads. Track how your non-customers are interacting with your email newsletter; find out what links they are clicking on and what they are reading about. By tracking their interaction you can quickly identify the non-customers that are warm leads and in need of nurturing.

Invitation/Survey

This format is newer than the others, but it works well for many purposes. It is exactly what it sounds like - a questionnaire where the recipient answers some questions and submits it. An example would be a city science center or local gym that wants to learn more about its member's needs and desires. They send a survey, learn more about their members, and maybe offer a prize or free admission in return.

Promotional Email

This type of email marketing campaign is used to create awareness, educate or sell a product or service. Promotional email marketing is advertising created with the sole purpose of increasing sales. It generally includes an incentive, such as a special sale price, gift with purchase, coupon or other limited time offer. These promotional emails are sent to individuals who signed up at the website who is sending them the email.

Thank you Email

Gratitude is certainly a virtue. Make sure you do not forget it when it comes down to blogging. The habit of sending “Thank You” emails might be time consuming, but it is worth while. Send those emails to people commenting on your blog for the first time and they will certainly be glad to return and keep the conversation going.
You can also send emails to people reviewing your blog or linking to your articles. Those emails will give you the opportunity to interact directly with other bloggers and, what is more important, to establish relationships.

Try to use the above sited emails according to their requirement. For more information on How Email Marketing Check the next Post On How Email Marketing

How Email Marketing Works/ What is Email Marketing

Email marketing means using email to communicate with clients, customers, and fans of your business. It helps you build a relationship with your customers by keeping in touch with them between purchases and reminding them of your services so they come back and shop again.

In its broadest sense, the term covers every email you ever send to a customer, potential customer or public venue. In general, though, it's used to refer to:
  • Sending direct promotional emails to try and acquire new customers or persuade existing customers to buy again
  • Sending emails designed to encourage customer loyalty and enhance the customer relationship
  • Placing your marketing messages or advertisements in emails sent by other people
With email marketing, you can easily and quickly reach target markets without the need for large quantities of print space, television or radio time or high production costs. Thanks to effective email marketing software, you can maintain an email list that has been segmented based on several factors including the length of time addresses have been on the list, customers’ likes and dislikes, spending habits and other important criteria. Emails are then created and sent out to specifically target members of your email list, providing them with a personalized email detailing information that they are interested in or have requested. This helps promote trust and loyalty to a company while also increasing sales.

With the help of email marketing software, email marketing is an effective way to not only reach your target markets but also to stay connected with your purchasing base. Through efficient use of email marketing, you can retain current clients while also targeting new markets. You can easily monitor how effective a marketing campaign is, and see that your return on investment is substantially higher than with other, more traditional, marketing campaigns. Let the internet help guide your customers to you again and again with an effective email marketing campaign.

Email marketing is so popular because:
  • sending email is much cheaper than most other forms of communication and more responsive.
  • email marketing has proven very successful for those who do it in right way.
  • email lets  your message deliver to the people and it is also targeted (unlike a website, where the people have to come to your message)
Email can also be used as a lead generation tool with email list rentals or sponsoring of other email newsletters. By working with a reputable email list owner or manager - where they send the actual email to their list - you can quickly reach a targeted permission-based audience. The key is to target the right people with relevant content. Also, avoid "buying" lists were you get someone else's data and send on your own email platform. This is a recipe for disaster in terms of ruining your email reputation and deliver-ability to the inbox.
So use email marketing communication tool to build your relationship with clients.
